The oil industry is full of opportunity, but it also comes with its fair share of challenges. One of the biggest difficulties facing workers and corporate employers today is finding suitable oilfield housing that is close to job sites. The most profitable sites tend to be located in remote areas that are far from the comfortable amenities offered by big cities.
Not only is finding the right location a struggle but also finding a lease that fits the length of time it will take to do the job. Here at Iron Guard Housing, we want to make it easier for you to find affordable corporate housing that fits your schedule.

Day-By-Day Leasing
If you have a shorter timeline for your job, you may be interested in signing up for a day-by-day lease. This type of lease is highly flexible with terms that allow you to cancel any day. Because of this flexibility, these leases may be a bit more difficult to find considering that most temporary housing contracts are based on the length of the project. There are two main types of housing that typically offer this type of leasing terms: hotels and private rooms.
Hotels are a great choice if you only plan to be there for a few days. They come with great amenities and give you a chance to get to know the city and explore it on your days off. A hotel room offers you the flexibility to set your own end date for your stay and can also allow you to extend your stay if needed. However, if you are planning to be at the site for a couple of weeks at a time, then a hotel suite can quickly go from cheap to expensive.
Another housing option is to find private home room rentals through local postings or AirBnB options. These types of leasing agreements usually start to pop up once a job site has been running for a while and seeing oilfield workers in town becomes a norm. Private owners who find they have extra space are often willing to make a few bucks by renting to a small team of workers. They often do not require large security deposits nor do they expect you to sign a year-long lease. If you need accommodations for less than 6 months, finding a private room to rent in town is an excellent alternative to other, more expensive oilfield housing options.
Leasing for a Set Amount of Time
You’ll find that the most common type of lease offered for short-term housing is for a set amount of time. Many short-term corporate housing options like man camps or short-term house rentals only offer contracts for either 6 months or one year. This is great if you know that you will be on the job for exactly that amount of time, but it can get tricky when you find yourself having to stay for any length of time outside of that.
However, not all workforce camps operate the same way. At Iron Guard Housing, we want to make sure you have oilfield housing when you need it, for as long as you need it. We offer the two standard lengths of stay, 6 months and 1-year leases, but depending on the season and how long your project will take, we’re willing to offer additional lengths of stay.
